Waldorf Homeschool Community
[Currently on hiatus for 2023-2024 school year.]
Our Waldorf Homeschool Community is comprised of joyful learning and offering the gifts of ourselves to each other. (What is Waldorf?)
Our classes are all taught by parents in the community wherein we are able to provide knowledge we already have and learn from the experience of teaching a group of children.
There is time before and after classes for all-ages to be together.
Our community of parents use a wide range of curricula in their home lessons, and these classes are not intended to be a replacement for home teaching. Many parents utilize a Waldorf curriculum or pedagogy, and our classes are generally inspired by these indications. However, the ultimate foundation is always freedom of the teacher, both at home and in the class.
Community Co-Creation
Our Homeschool Community exists as a space for all our families to learn, grow, and share themselves with one another. This means everyone participates in the day together whether by teaching, assisting, supervising outside play, or cleaning up.
Great care is taken to welcome ideas, suggestions, and participation in the events of our time together. Parents and families are encouraged to bring their strengths and gifts to the community. No offering is ignored - instead guided with welcoming hearts.
“One cannot be any more mature than one truly is, only act that way when appropriately cued. To take turns because it is right to do so is certainly civil, but to take turns out of a genuine sense of fairness can only come from maturity. To say sorry may be appropriate to the situation, but to assume responsibility for one’s actions can come only from the process of individuation. There is no substitute for genuine maturation, no shortcut to getting there. Behavior can be prescribed or imposed, but maturity comes from the heart and mind. The real challenge for parents is to help kids grow up, not simply to look like grownups.” ”
